From Tree to Jar

I didn't know that making jam could be so rewarding, especially after getting the fruit from my own backyard. I have a Japanese ornamental plum tree which is usually used to hang the bird feeders.

I have never really seen it bear any fruit until this year. I had to research what kind of plum tree it was, and while I was doing this, I discovered how to make jam. I gathered the fruit, boiled it, and made jam for the first time.

It tastes better than any jam I've ever had before. I savor it more because of the process and because it is my tree.
